Tips to save water


It is said that the next world war will be fought over water. A Large part of the world will face perennial water shortage. With more and more areas struggling with droughts, clean water scarcity it is need of the hour is to conserve water. It is more important than ever before. Even if you’re not living in a drought-struck region, it is our duty to cut short on water usage, helps conserve a precious resource.
Water connects every aspect of life. Access to safe water and sanitation can quickly turn problems into potential – unlocking education, work opportunities, and improved health for women, children, and families across the world. 
There are several ways to conserve water around the home. Don’t worry if you can’t do everything on this list just pick few points to start with you will feel happy in contributing yourself for nature.  Even a few small changes can add up to hundreds of gallons in water savings each year!

Tips:

1.     Turn off the taps: Never leave a tap running while brushing teeth it is said that 6 liters of water drain a minute.
2.     Fix your leaks.  DIY or hire a plumber, fix all your leaky taps, commodes, etc. This means big water savings.
3.     Shower with less:  Efficient shower head will allow you to foam up in less water. But it is always better to take a shower through the bucket.
4.     Pressure cook can save a lot of water, money, and energy and retains more nutrients.
5.     Save up your dirty clothes: Washing a full machine load of clothes uses less water and energy
6.     Get a low-flush toilet
7.     Reduce food waste It takes a lot of water to produce fruit, cereal, and other food.  Plan a week’s menu and go shopping with a list so that you do not purchase excess. Use leftovers to make a new dish out of it.
8.     Time your gardening: Water outdoor plants in the early morning or late in the evening. This stops water evaporation.
9.     Install a rain barrel:  Rainwater harvesting is a great way to reuse water for many proposes like can reuse it for gardening, toilets, at times can boil the water and use it for drinking.

Statistics say, today 1 in 10 people lack access to safe water; 1 in 3 people lack access to a toilet. More people ha
ve a mobile phone than toilets.
